Gerry Rice

Bio

Upon graduation from Curtis Institute of Music, Gerry was a substitute with the Philadelphia Orchestra for more than 20 years and has been playing with the Philly Pops for more than 30 years. In addition to performing, Gerry was a teaching artist through the Pops in the Schools at the McDaniel School in South Philadelphia. Her current studio has students ranging from age 5 through 82. Gerry has enjoyed a varied career of playing the great pops music, classical symphonic repertoire, shows at the Forrest and Walnut Street Theatres, chamber music, opera, and has played with Led Zeppelin, Aretha Franklin, The Moody Blues, Rod Stewart, and Earth, Wind, and Fir, among other popular artist.

Beyond the Pops

An active "outdoorsy" woman, Gerry also worked at REI for a number of years. She and her husband enjoy multi day hiking trips and have completed treks in Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, and Scotland, with plans for hiking in the dolomites soon. She has run two marathons and countless half marathons.
