Kaj Hansen is a woodwind multi-instrumentalist playing flutes, saxophones, clarinets, oboe and English horn who was born in Santa Barbara, CA. He studied music at the University of Miami, Berklee College of Music, Interlochen, and holds a BA degree in Music (flute) from the University of Delaware.

Bio

Kaj’s long freelance career has included performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Carnegie Hall, on national and international television, and on tours throughout the US, Europe, Canada, Mexico and Costa Rica. He has won a National Flute Association Competition, performed in master classes of Julius Baker and others, and also has a library of his own original compositions.

His playing can be heard on recordings with Peter Nero and The Philly Pops Orchestra, Philadelphia Boys Choir, Vox Ama Deus Ensemble, Manhattan Transfer, NFL Films as well as others and has performed with many ensembles and artists including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Diana Ross, Josh Groban, Chita Rivera. In addition to his 25+ years with the Philly Pops, Kaj currently performs with Bill Haley Jr. and the Comets, the Lakewood Jazz Ensemble, in the pit orchestra for local area shows, and the Philadelphia Flute Quartet.

Kaj Hansen lives in Cherry Hill, NJ and is married to Christine Hansen, a flutist and music educator.
